One classic. One modern. All horror.

One couple talking about old and new horror movies, because of course.

137 - Idle Hands (1999) & Tucker and Dale vs Evil (2010) →

May 25, 2020 by Pod Sematary

CW: Rape

Read our afterthoughts for this episode here!

It’s Comedy Horror Week on Pod Sematary! Chris & Kelsey will show you a killer hillbilly!

The Classic Film: Idle Hands (1999)
"A teenage slacker's right hand becomes possessed with murderous intent” (IMDb.com). A beloved teenage comedy-horror, Idle Hands didn't age very well, but it's still way better than the critics gave it credit for. At least the actors are.

The Modern Film: Tucker and Dale vs Evil (2010)
"Affable hillbillies Tucker and Dale are on vacation at their dilapidated mountain cabin when they are mistaken for murderers by a group of preppy college students” (IMDb.com). A genuinely funny send-up of hillbilly-horror tropes, Tucker and Dale vs Evil should be seen if you missed it the first time around.

075 - God Told Me To (1976) & Holidays (2016) →

March 11, 2019 by Pod Sematary

CW: Suicide, Mass Shooting/Killing, Transphobia, Interphobia, Miscarriage, Rape, Abortion

It's St. Patrick's Day on Pod Sematary! That means Chris & Kelsey are going to once again find some flimsy connection to the Irish holiday!

The Classic Film: God Told Me To (1976)
"A New York detective investigates a series of murders committed by random New Yorkers who claim that 'God told them to.'" This classic, exploitation-style, 70s horror flick certainly goes some places, but will it really give you nightmares... forever?

The Modern Film: Holidays (2016)
"Holidays is an anthology feature film that puts a uniquely dark and original spin on some of the most iconic and beloved holidays of all time by challenging our folklore, traditions, and assumptions." Will the hit-or-miss natures of these vignettes ruin the movie's chances of becoming an all-time anthology classic?

015 - Double Feature - Stephen King's It (1990 & 2017) →

January 15, 2018 by Pod Sematary

It's our longest episode yet, and for good reason! This week is a Double Feature of one of our favorites: Stephen King's It! Kelsey and Chris get all nostalgic for the "ironic classic" 1990 television miniseries. Then it's off to the future (past?) for the 2017 cinematic phenomenon! Don't worry - we won't talk about the book (we will).
